ctivities
to promote the U.S. hydropower industry are conducted by the US Hydropower Council
for International Development. US
Hydropower membership includes a broad base of companies including investor
owned utilities and private power producers, equipment manufacturers and
suppliers, financiers, and consultants including engineering, design, and legal
expertise. US Hydropower provides its membership regular communications and a
chance to participate in industry events such as conferences, trade missions,
policy initiatives, and emerging market opportunities.
US Hydropower focuses exclusively on hydropower issues in the international market. The organization is a member run council with industry leaders working to provide input to global hydropower development strategies. US Hydropower provides a point of contact for foreign governments reaching out to the U.S. hydropower industry. This can be an important resource for individual companies as well as the industry as a whole. Since 1993, the US hydropower industry has received many requests for assistance from foreign governments, including, among others: Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, Peru, Chile, Ecuador, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Indonesia, China, India, Pakistan, Philippines, Turkey, Georgia, Armenia, Russia, and Ukraine. US Hydropower generally follows-up on such requests with trade missions, policy recommendations and other assistance that involve active participation and opportunities for interaction by our member companies.
US Hydropower coordinates seminars
and educational events with the international finance community, including
multilateral banks, commercial banks, and investment funds. These events serve to educate financiers on
industry specific attributes in the international market, and also offer an opportunity
for industry members to become more familiar with the financial institutions
and programs.
The US Hydropower Council for
International Development serves as point of contact for the U.S. hydropower
industry to foreign energy decisionmakers and project promoters. The group actively provides industry
expertise on policy reform, joint venture partnerships and financial packaging
for hydropower projects. Industry
leadership and Board of Director positions are available.
