The technical session on small Hydro Power (SHP) was held on 9th February. The session was chaired by Prof. P. Rudramoorthy of the PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore. The following three were actually presented during the session:

As you may be aware USAID, is looking for a team to provide management services to the New Delhi, India based SARI program. The multi year effort is aimed at increasing access to clean energy in Bhutan, Nepal, Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, and Maldives. To date, US Hydropower has been asked to participate (on a non-exclusive basis) to provide links to industry by one potential contractor, Louis Berger.
US Hydropower gave a presentation on hydropower at the recent US India Business Council briefing in Washington DC, with Assistant Secretary of Energy David Garmon on hydropower potential and current projects in the pipeline in India.
US Hydropower was asked to provide additional briefing materials to Assistant Secretary Garmon in preparation for his February visit to India. US Hydropower looks forward to an expanded role for hydropower as part of the ongoing collaboration on energy between the US and India.
14th Session of the UN Commission on Sustainable Development Business Summit was held in New York from May 9, 2006 to May 10 2006. As the first year of the second implementation cycle, CSD-14 is focusing on progress in the following areas: Energy for Sustainable Development; Industrial Development; Air pollution/ Atmosphere; and Climate Change. Debby Stone, Director of Trade Promotion participated in the business summit. During the Business Summit the US Hydropower launched Hydro Logic, an educational campaign with support from public and private sector stakeholders around the world aimed at advocacy on behalf of environmentally and economically sound hydropower contributions.
US Hydropower is in the planning stages of holding an India Briefing Panel regarding Hydropower development activities and needs in India, during HydroVision 2006 in Portland, OR. US Hydropower has invited several stakeholders from India to participate in the HydroVision 2006 activities.
US Hydropower will be Hosting a cocktail reception on August 2, 2006 at the Red Lion Hotel, Portland OR Convention Center, during HydroVision 2006.
Ms. Debby Stone, Director of Trade Promotion will be a panelist in the IHA 2006 Business Summit on Sustainable Hydropower Critical Issues of International Policy on Hydropower to be held during HydroVision 2006.
