US Hydropower Implements 2005-2006 Legislative Strategy

US Hydropower staff and member company representatives have been working to visit member offices on Capitol Hill to  support the Public Private Sector Partnership on Hydropower program. This program is part of the Clean Energy Technology Export Initiative (CETE).  US Hydropower will work with several offices in this effort.  Please contact us to see how your company can help.

 

2005 Hydro Finance Forum: Implementing New Partnerships and Strategies for Success

US Hydropower hosted the 2005 Hydro Finance Forum in Washington, DC April 20 &21at the St. Regis Hotel.  This event drew project developers, consultants, equipment manufacturers, law firms, investment funds, financial institutions and Federal Agencies.  The Forum offered a unique opportunity to network with participants and learn about cutting edge financing possibilities for hydropower projects.  For more information visit www.us-hydropower.org

 

 

US Hydropower Steering Committee on Finance

A steering committee has been established on finance issues that includes representatives from the industry, commercial banks, investment funds, pension funds, and insurance companies.   The task force will be working to identify issues for the finance forum and will also work to identify speakers and participants.  If you are interested in participating on the committee and/or have recommendations, please contact us as soon as possible.  

 

 

Upcoming Mexico Task Force Meetings

US Hydropower has been working with the USAID Mexico mission to develop a 5-year plan to develop hydropower projects in partnership with municipalities in two states.  At this stage, a partnership with Veracruz and Chiapas has been discussed.  US Hydropower will lead conduct task force meetings April 4-8.  US Hydropower will meet with the USAID mission, CFE (the national utility) and SENER (the department of energy) to discuss hydropower investment and development.  Meetings will also be scheduled with the governors’ offices in Veracruz and Chiapas.  Please contact us if you are interested in participating in these meetings. 

 

 

India Task Force Meetings

US Hydropower led a task force of representatives to India in December 2004, including member companies and US government representatives, to meet with state officials that have been recently appointed by the new administration.  Meetings were held with state irrigation departments, state electricity boards, and state regulatory boards regarding key policy issues and finance barriers on near term projects.  New opportunities were also identified.  Follow-up meetings will be held in Fall 2005.
