US
Hydropower focuses exclusively on hydropower issues in the
international market. The organization is a member run council
with industry leaders working to provide input to global hydropower
development strategies. US Hydropower provides a point of
contact for foreign governments reaching out to the U.S. hydropower
industry. This can be an important resource for individual
companies as well as the industry as a whole. Since 1993,
the US hydropower industry has received many requests for
assistance from foreign governments, including, among others:
Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, Peru, Chile, Ecuador, Costa Rica,
El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Indonesia, China,
India, Pakistan, Philippines, Turkey, Georgia, Armenia, Russia,
and Ukraine. US Hydropower generally follows-up on such requests
with trade missions, policy recommendations and other assistance
that involve active participation and opportunities for interaction
by our member companies.
US
Hydropower coordinates seminars and educational events with
the international finance community, including multilateral
banks, commercial banks, and investment funds. These events
serve to educate financiers on industry specific attributes
in the international market, and also offers an opportunity
for industry members to become more familiar with the financial
institutions and programs.
The
US Hydropower Council for International Development serves
as point of contact for the U.S. hydropower industry to foreign
energy decisionmakers and project promoters. The group actively
provides industry expertise on policy reform, joint venture
partnerships and financial packaging for hydropower projects.
