The
US Hydropower Council for International Development has been asked
to partner with the US Agency for International Development on
its South Asia Regional Initiative on Energy (SARIE) program.
The partnership will focus on several regional energy development
issues. The first initiative will focus on hydropower development and
the sale of power between Nepal and India.
A specific workplan for the
partnership will be defined at the Hydrovision 2002 Conference
in Portland, OR July 27-August 2
US Hydropower will work with USAID and USEA to bring delegations
to Hydrovision from the Nepal Electric Authority and the National
Hydropower Corporation of India.
