Hydropower Chairs Activities at the Hydrovision 2002 Conference
in Portland, On, July 27- August 2.
Adequate
access to energy and water are primary developmental concerns
in emerging markets. Energy and water are essential building blocks
that can spur economic growth, national stability, governance,
and sustainability in developing countries. Please join your colleagues
and our international guests at Hydrovision 2002 for a reception
on Thursday, August 1st, 5:30-7:00 and on August 2nd, a panel
discussion of what it takes to successfully develop private hydropower
in emerging markets. US Hydropower will bring top policymakers
from India to discuss power purchase agreement issues and other
project development issues. US Hydropower will chair two panels
on August 2nd which will look at successful international development
case studies in India and Guatemala. Attendees from several major
hydropower markets will also participate in the discussion. Policymakers
from foreign governments, the US Agency for International Development,
and private sector will discuss past and planned partnership activities
undertaken with the US Hydropower Council for International Development
on market conditioning measures and advocacy needs for investment.
